About Us
Godalming School of Dance has been long established in the Godalming, Guildford and Milford areas teaching Classical Ballet, Tap Dance and Modern Dance.
Many former pupils have gone on to professional career in dance, both performing and teaching. We believe every child should have the opportunity to dance. We actively encourage dance for all, and aspire to fulfill everyone’s potential in a positive, fun and happy environment. Learning to dance builds confidence and self-esteem whilst encouraging an appreciation of music. Whether vocational or recreational, the disciplines encouraged contribute to life skills.
The School maintains an excellent record of exam results with most gaining Merit or Distinction. Our most gifted students are invited to dance at competition level.

Classical Ballet is the foundation for all dance encouraging a strong technique, musicality and self-expression. Our classes follow the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and pupils have the opportunity to take examinations/class awards.
All pupils are prepared for the examination as this encourages focus and a sense of achievement, however the exam is optional.

Tap encourages a child’s natural rhythm and co-ordination, and is fun. We follow the ISTD syllabus from Primary through the grades to Advanced.

Modern Jazz is dynamic and builds a foundation for the more contemporary dance forms seen in Musical Theatre. We follow the ISTD syllabus which encourages strong technique, strength and flexibility. All pupils are prepared for the examination as this encourages focus and a sense of achievement, however the exam is optional.
